then you’ll be interested to know that we work with orphans for their long term growth and happiness.
Many charities do a lot of good providing physical needs for children like clothes, toys, bedding. Many others provide fun such as Summer camps. These are valuable but short lived forms of help.
Lighthouse is different. In Russia we employ loving trustworthy people to both teach and befriend orphans on a long term basis with the goal of enabling them to enter tertiary study and thus have chance at a satisfying future.

Russian Orphan Statistics
About 15,000 orphans leave Russian orphanages each year at around 16 years of age.
Of these:

• 5,000 are unemployed
-
• some 6,000 are homeless
-
• around 3,000 resort to crime
-
• approximately 1,500 commit suicide

• roughly half the girls are forced into prostitution

The above movie was photographed during our April / May 2009 visit to Kazan. It documents the increased prosperity of both the city of Kazan and it’s orphanages, while focusing primarily on the children we work with and those who have now graduated and are enjoying their University lives.
